East Basildon PCN hosts Alzheimer’s Charity Event
East Basildon PCN hosted a charity event on Saturday, the 29th of June 2024 between 11am and 5pm at Dipple Medical Centre to support the Alzheimer’s Society.
It was a lovely sunny day where parents, children and the rest of the community enjoyed the festivities.
Everyone attending supported our PCN’s Health Care Assistant, Dee, who shaved her head at 1pm on the day to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.
It was a successful and an emotional event as many event-goers knew someone close to them who had been affected by the condition.
Money raised
Again, the event was a success due to the efforts of the East Basildon PCN with the lead and initiative of our Health Care Assistant, Dee.
Because of her efforts, she managed to raise approximately £2000 for the Alzheimer’s Society. We hope this can help contribute to making a difference through the charity.
Event festivities
At the event, the following was offered to the community:
- face painting
- bouncy castle
- food and drink
- raffles and auctions
- bric and brac
Alzheimer’s Society making a difference
Alzheimer’s disease is the most common type of dementia. It is a progressive disease beginning with mild memory loss and possibly leading to loss of the ability to carry on a conversation and respond to the environment. Alzheimer’s disease involves parts of the brain that control thought, memory, and language.
So many people at the event had a similar story to tell of someone they knew who had suffered or currently suffering with the disease.
That is why Dee decided to cut her hair in order to raise money for a great charity.
East Basildon PCN wants to thank everyone who supported the event to make it a success.
