Motivated Minds mental health and wellbeing
Motivated Minds is a non-profit ‘Community Interest Company’ (CIC) that offers sustainable mental health and wellbeing solutions based in Basildon, Essex.
The organisation was founded by Carla Andrews MBE BACh in 2015 and has been expanding and being enhanced ever since.
Year-on-year, they have seen growth while delivering services to over 2000 people a month in and around Essex through the HAPPY Hub.
The Happy Hub is their one-stop-wellness shop for both children and adults based in the Eastgate Shopping Centre offering instant mental health support on the high street.
The HAPPY Hub
A one stop wellness shop situated in Basildon’s Eastgate Shopping Centre, the HAPPY Hub is located right next to the mall entrance of ASDA.
As you walk into the space, you immediately sense that this place has a lot to offer to literally everyone.
The downstairs alone is divided into sections offering something different for each person.

Our mantra is ‘Be More’, as we believe that by enabling people to tap into their resources, gives them the opportunity to grow as individuals – regardless of their age, and past/current circumstances.

Enter the zones
The HAPPY Hub has various zones where you can find something that can help put you in the right frame of mind.
The Sports Zone
The Sports Zone contains a few exercise machines and games such as a pool table, ping pong table and foosball table as well.
The Connect Zone
A place where you can connect with others and receive support from trained professionals that can boost your mental health in a good way.
The Mindfulness Zone
A space where mindfulness matters and you can work on being ‘present’ and ‘in the moment’.
The CommuniTea Cafe
Open to all, the HAPPY Hub offers a wonderful CommuniTEA Cafe where you can enjoy a cuppa at an a great price, and if you can’t ask for a PAY-IT-FORWARD.
The Community Store
An area where anyone can purchase items and books that support and nurture a healthy and positive mind.
The Notice Board
The Notice Board informs visitors of the various activities on offer and reminds everyone to ‘Get Active’.

Positive reading club Wellness Workshops – Variety of psychology & self-care.
MEN’d
Join the men’s group for some peace and tranquillity while fishing or learn about bike maintenance. Rods and bikes are provided. Bring your rods and bikes if you choose.
All you need do is turn up and meet.
MIND craft
Therapeutic arts and crafts.
Cup of Kindness
‘Getting through life’ support group.
Community Dinner
Cook, eat and meet new people.

Goals and objectives of the organisation
Their primary objective is to provide a comprehensive range of services that cater to individuals afflicted by mental illness and those seeking to improve their quality of life.
The organisation’s focus is multifaceted, encompassing both preventative measures and proactive intervention.
They strive to offer tailored support that addresses the unique needs of each individual, with the ultimate goal of promoting mental wellbeing and enhancing life opportunities.
Motivated Minds is wholly committed to promoting mental health and wellbeing among members of our community.
They recognise that mental health challenges affect individuals in distinct ways, and therefore, believe that providing mental health services at a local level is crucial.
Doing so enables them to customise their support to meet the specific needs of their local residents.
Additionally, their approach ensures that their services are easily accessible, thereby reducing any barriers to seeking help.
By adopting community-level mental health programs, they aim to eradicate the stigma attached to mental health and encourage more people to seek the support they need to overcome their challenges.

East Basildon Primary Care Network will work with Motivated Minds to deliver health and wellbeing cafés for our residents.
This will be open on a weekly basis and will be an opportunity for residents to come together in a safe, warm space.
There is a contact form below that you can fill in if you would like to learn more about the Wellness Cafes.
Once submitted, a member of the Motivated Minds staff will contact you as soon as possible.
We will work with multiple partners to provide this service and ensure we meet the demands of our service.
The café will include sessions that improve health promotion such as the importance of vaccine uptake, cancer screening as well as focussed on the wider determinants of health such as education, employment and housing.
We will overlook the project to ensure we are inviting the correct people in a proactive way to the wellbeing café.
The sessions will try to align with national campaigns such as; smoking cessation in September, men’s’ health awareness in November, etc.
At these sessions patients will be able to engage with our ARRS team (Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme) of staff, and also benefit from other services, e.g.:
